LoRo Hair Aug 12

I don’t usually post pictures of hair styles that I haven’t created but I really liked this one and I hope you will too.

I got this done at a hairdressers for a wedding that I was attending. I love my updos! And I don’t really like my hair being ‘flat’ so this is what we achieved: a creative quiff and a perfect bun. You couldn’t imagine how many pins were in my head! *My hair was pressed so it is still natural, not permed.* It’s nice to switch it up abit :). Seriously, try and have fun with your hair. When my hair starts becoming a ‘burden,’ I change it up and remember how much it is my asset, my ‘crown of glory.’ Hope you will too.

Anonymous asked: Looking at your pictures, I really envy your natural hair! I'm growing out my relaxer and wanted to ask the best type of styles for afro hair and which products you use and would recommend? :)

Hey Anon :) thanks for hollering. No don’t envy! Instead be inspired! Major props to you for growing out your relax, I salute and encourage all who do that. Why envy when you’ll have great hair soon too =~P. If I’m being honest, I have too many random products sitting in my house and sometimes I mix and match. The BEST products (which I mostly use) are pure ALMOND OIL and OLIVE OIL (lighter). They are very nourishing and healthy. Someone once told me ‘ANYTHING THAT YOU PUT ONTO YOUR BODY AND YOUR HAIR SHOULD BE EDIBLE’ I additionally use organic root stimulator products (they should pay me for this promotion lol). Their aloe Shampoo/deep egg mayonnaise conditioner, coconut spray, olive oil cream and olive oil sheen are really good. Keep my hair feeling moisturised, conditioned and clean. Just a extra few tips : - the less you comb the better. (sometimes I don’t pick up a comb for a week ) haha - the longer duration your hair is plaited/twisted up for, the healthier and longer it will grow. -the higher the % of your hair that is plait up,at any one time, the longer it will grow. SOFTER and healthier etc., it’s also easier to maintain. -TRIMMING and cutting your hair is good. Sometimes we like to run away from scissors but they are your friends ;) Aim for every 2 months. - The money/time you spent on relaxer should go towards getting regular trims/treatments/steams - SUNLIGHT is our friend. Get as much as possible. - Eat right! fruit, veg and water. Cliche but true BEST STYLES erm?? lol look through all my pics on my ARCHIVE page or start tracking ‘LoRo’s Hairstyles’ or just follow me haha. TWISTS are amazing! Put them anywhere and everywhere. Easy to do yourself. Afro kinky extensions are okay but make sure you’re taking extra care keeping them moisturised. I loveee my up do’s. I think they look sophis. If you want to do a creative style, mix and match ***plaits/cornrows/twist/flat twists*** into one hairstyle. Google or look through my pics for inspiration. If you can’t canerow LEARN…PRACTICE. Start by twisting. 6 big plaits in your hair at at night and then start to vary. Do two big cornrows in your hair. When my hair is not on point, I wear a scarf or do two big plaits :). Enjoy your journey. I want to see pictures! I want to follow you. Feel like I’ve written an essay…but it was worth it ;) right? NATURAL BEAUTY #FTW !!!! Stay beautiful. Blessings x

LoRo’s Self-Created Hairstyles: Cornrows & Flat twist - My Hair Style
I created in Feb 2012. Straight Cornrows and crossovers. Flat twists were straightened via first.
Weakness or creativity?
I straightened part of the back and the left hand side with HEAT. Haven’t done so in 18months. Any excessive straightening of Afro- Caribbean hair depletes it. So I will not make a habit of it (like I used to). Sometimes I feel like i’m rejecting my natural Black, Beautiful, kinky hair when I straighten. But I was bored and wanted to do something quick and different! I will give my locks a nice treat(ment) soon. Hope you like!
